What a sign gives the engine—and what it doesn't

Mars rules Aries, and that matters to the scoring in one specific way—not the way most sun-sign writing implies. Nothing gives Mars extra weight because you are Aries; the scoring never reads your Sun sign at all. What it does read is the transiting planet’s own condition: a Mars moving through Aries is in domicile, and our astrology engine counts that contact for more than the same aspect from a Mars with no dignity.

In Aries, Mars is in domicile and the Sun is exalted; Venus is in detriment and Saturn is in fall. Those conditions are the whole of what a sign does to a transiting body in our rulebook—the same dignity table the scoring reads, which is why a transit from a planet in its own sign counts for more than the identical angle from one with nothing here.

Sun-sign astrology is the entry point—it's also the least specific bit. Two Aries suns born minutes apart in the same city can have wildly different days because their Ascendants (the cusp of the 1st house) sit at different degrees. House placement is where the mainstream horoscope stops and we keep going.
